Alternative Design History

This project reimagines an alternative timeline of design history by focusing on the evolution of Chinese typography influenced by technological advancements. As a native speaker of Chinese, I saw this as an opportunity to delve into the historical progression of the writing system.
The vertical composition of the poster is inspired by the traditional vertical orientation of Chinese writing, integrating the cultural context into the design itself. The timeline is clearly communicated through careful typographic treatments that create differing design systems for informational and contextual entries. Thoughtful consideration of typographic hierarchy and consistency ensures that each piece of information is both legible and visually engaging, reinforcing the alternative perspective on design history that the project seeks to highlight.
